Shear Wall Nailing Deputy Inspector / Special Inspection Information

If you need a Special Inspection by a Deputy Inspector for Shearwall Nailing, Concrete placement, Epoxy Installed Bolts, or Epoxy Installed Rebar Dowels, or more on your construction project, you have come to the right place! Per the California building code, a Shearwall Nailing Inspection by a Deputy Inspector is required to verify the shear wall construction of all wood shear walls where the required nail spacing is 4” on center or less (2” o.c., 3”o.c., 4” o.c.).

A shear wall nailing deputy inspection involves verification of the nail size and spacing, lumber and sheathing type / size / thickness, and any hardware attachments for that specific shear wall such as anchor bolts, hold downs, A35’s, etc. All items should be in conformance with the "shear wall schedule" on the approved plans.

A shear wall nailing deputy inspection is considered a "periodic inspection", meaning that a Deputy Inspector does not need to be on-site during the actual nailing, but only after the nailing is complete.

If your project is located anywhere in the Santa Barbara, Ventura or Los Angles areas, and you have any questions regarding the Special Inspection requirements for Shear Wall Nailing Inspections, Epoxy Bolt or Rebar Dowel Inspections, Concrete Placement Inspections, and more, feel free to call us anytime!
